Form-A-Drain, SIPS and Construction Law (6 CPD)

$350.00

Product Description

The contractors and suppliers in the building industry are faced with new construction technology, material, and processes. This course covers the design and application of Form-A-Drain and SIP (structural insulated panels) as a new construction technology. The course also covers construction law topics related to lien and insurance.

Form-A-Drain is the 3-in-1 foundation solution that forms footings, provides an integrated drainage system, and can be easily adapted to vent radon where needed. Form-A-Drain consists of lineal sections installed as the foundation footing forms, which stay in place permanently after completion of the concrete pour to form a complete sub-slab perimeter loop around the foundation. This also functions as foundation drainage and a radon collection system.

Also covered are Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) which are a high performance building system for residential and light commercial construction. The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB).  SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. Building with SIPs can save time, cost and labor.

We will cover the technical theory, system architecture, system design, system components and job site application, demonstration and Q & A.

Also covered are the risk of operating without insurance, the duty to defend, subrogation, insurable interest, claims made and occurrence policies, material non-disclosure and prejudice to third parties, cooperation and conflict between insurer and insured, types of polices and their common exclusions.
